Alden Richards had the ~coolest~ explanation about his viral connection to former co-star Kathryn Bernardo.

The two made headlines in the past weeks for their seemingly sweet interactions. Alden was spotted attending two of Kathryn’s birthday parties—one in Palawan and another during a surprise post-birthday celebration. Some photos and videos of them getting super close circulated online, making netizens curious about Alden’s connection with Kathryn.

“I was invited and siyempre, it was part of her post-birthday celebration. So with friends and family. Masaya naman. Masaya naman ‘yung naging experience. And you can see how happy Kath is right now,” he briefly explained in an interview with GMA News.

Some netizens were quite surprised to see Alden and Kath together after all these years. They first starred in their first movie, Hello, Love, Goodbye in 2019. Kathryn was dating her then-boyfriend Daniel Padilla, so fans of their love team knew that KathDen’s relationship would always be professional.

Thankfully, Alden affirmed that he and Kathryn had kept a low-maintenance friendship away from social media. For him, not everything is meant to be shared with the public.

“Hindi lang din talaga kailangang ipamalita sa social media ‘yung mga ganyan. Sometimes ‘yung mga personal thing, better be personal na lang,” Alden proclaimed.

Even before Kath’s recent birthday party, Alden has been vocal about his friendship with the Kapamilya actress. They may have been very busy with their respective careers, but Alden has always been open about his connection with Kathryn.

The Kapuso actor even expressed his support for the newly single Kapamilya actress. As Kath embraced her single era, Alden could not hide his happiness in Kath. He described Kath as someone who’s currently “coming out of her shell.”

Beaming with pride and approval, Alden talked about his connection to Kathryn. “Kita mo sa kanya e. It manifests. The photos and videos that we see and the projects that she has been doing, really say a lot about her state of mind right now. And the condition of her life right now, she deserves that,” Alden said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

To note, Hello, Love, Goodbye surpassed the other films that Kathryn did as it became the highest-grossing film in the Philippines until 2023. With that, fans have actually clamored for Kath and Alden to reunite in another film.

Thankfully, Alden has been very vocal about his willingness to work with Kathryn again. “Ako po, of course, Hello, Love, Goodbye naman po made history. At ‘yun naman din po ang clamor ng mga nakapanood—to have a part two. Ako po, ready naman ako, anytime,” the actor told PEP.ph in a December 2023 interview.
