Kim Chiu Shares Thoughts On ABS-CBN Ball’s Comeback This Year

The ABS-CBN Ball is back to mark a new chapter, and one of the celebrities people undeniably look forward to seeing on that event’s red carpet is Metro cover girl Kim Chiu.

Through the years, the ‘Chinita Princess’ has embodied that moniker in the company’s galas, often donning ball gowns and intricate form-fitting creations. But this year, we may see this playful Fit Check: Confessions of an Ukay Queen leading lady take on a new look.

Fresh from her Europe trip for ASAP Natin ‘To‘s show in Milan, Kim graced the 15th anniversary gala of Lifestrong, the Filipino-owned company behind the brand she endorses, Hairfix. Hairfix is a brand that offers hair dyes, treatments, essentials like shampoo and conditioner, hair styling products, and general merchandise like dressing capes, ear covers, and hair clips.

At the #LifeStrongAt15 event, she entertained the guests with energetic song and dance performances that were very much like her ASAP numbers. We briefly caught up with Kim and asked her about her experience in ‘ASAP in Milan.’ She shared, ‘Grabe! Grabe ang mga tao sa Milan. Sobrang loud, maingay, masaya lahat, and one of the best crowds ng ASAP. Actually, lahat naman pero after kasi ng pandemic, nag-Las Vegas kami and then itong ASAP Milan, so sobra kaming nasiyahan, and ang daming Pinoy talaga sa buong mundo na naka-suporta sa ASAP at sa Kapamilya.

Kim is on a roll as an actress, performer, It’s Showtime host, and vlogger (she just released a two-parter vlog touring around her rest house in Tagaytay!). Her event calendar is full, too, and next on her agenda is the upcoming ABS-CBN Ball set to make a comeback on September 30. This annual gathering was put on hold for the past three years because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

‘After ilang years na walang ball,’ Kim began, ‘parang nakakapanibago at nakaka-excite s’yempre kasi ang dami na. It’s a different set of artists na, and then it’s a different vibe na, so I’m looking forward sa kung ano ‘yung mangyayari this ABS-CBN Ball.’

Due to her hectic schedule, however, Kim told us she’s yet to start her ball preparations. Regardless, given her style credentials, there’s no doubt she’ll make a stunning statement and stand out on the red carpet. Her looks for the ball are all memorable, so she can’t quite pick a favorite. ‘Most memorable? Kasi hindi ako nakapag-debut nang hardcore talaga kaya every year, ang lalaki ng gowns ko! Pero this year, hindi na, promise! (laughs).’

Aside from the glitzy and glamorous side of the ABS-CBN Ball, the event is also about being ‘forever grateful.’ It’s a night of gratitude and giving back, with the ABS-CBN Foundation as the beneficiary. Kim’s message to the loyal Kapamilyas? ‘Everyone na Kapamilya, maraming salamat for always fighting for ABS-CBN and for always being there for each other. ‘Pag Kapamilya ka talaga, alam mong hindi ka pababayaan and hindi ka talaga mag-iisa.’
