Kim Chiu says she would be dead by now had she not fallen asleep during shooting incident

Kim Chiu is thankful that she is still alive.

People were happy when it was reported that no one was harmed when Kim’s van was shot at earlier today, March 4. In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Kim shared her thoughts on the whole incident.

The interviewer first asked Kim why the actress couldn’t stop crying.

Kim said that the whole thing was so unexpected. Her goal for the day was to get to the set and get going with whatever was needed of her.

“I was scared. Siyempre magtatrabaho ako, pupunta akong taping, tapos magigising ako na pinagbabaril yung kotse ko, so di ko alam what’s happening, di ko alam kung may kaaway ako, wala naman. It’s just a normal taping day for na.”

Thanks to Kim’s tiredness, she decided to sleep instead of reading her script because if she had, some of the bullets would’ve probably hit her.

“Natutulog lang ako. Dapat magbabasa ako ng script pero inantok ako along the way palabas ng village so humiga ako. So kung hindi ako inantok, tinuloy ko ‘yung pagbabasa ng script, siguro tinamaan na ako. Nagpaulan ng bala, eight bullets. Nakita ko ‘yung isang bala nasa windshield nakapatong. I’m scared.

“Maliit lng yung putok eh, as in manipis lang sya na tunog. Pumpunta ako sa drivers and PA ko, sabi nila nabaril yung kotse,” she added.

The whole crew checked on each other and realized no one was hurt physically. Kim saw the bullet holes on the windows and just felt lost.

“Tinignan ko silang dalawa. ‘Okay ba kayo?’ Kasi ‘yung driver ko, ‘yung windshield niya, butas na ng bala. Sabi nila, ‘Okay kami’ Sabi nila, ‘Ikaw, okay ka ba?’ Sabi ko, ‘Okay naman ako.’ Tapos hanggang sa umupo ako, nakita ko ‘yung mga baril na bilog-bilog sa bintana.”

Kim said she had no idea who would do this to her.

“Kung hindi ako humiga, tatamaan talaga ako, wala naman akong kasalanan, hindi ko alam what’s happening.”

Her elder sister was the first one she called. She also saw a lot of policemen were already at the scene.

“Tumawag ako na binaril ‘yung kotse ko. Ang dami kong tinawagan kasi hindi ko alam anong gagawin ko. Nasa loob ako ng sasakyan, ang daming pulis sa labas. May mga MMDA na. Hindi ko na alam. After that, nag-hang ako.”

She was fetched by her other driver, and as an actress, she just went to the set to do her job. It was almost like clockwork the way she just went straight to the set. She forgot to see how she was doing.

“Sinundo ako ng driver kong isa, nagpasundo ako. And then instinct ko nagpunta akong taping.

Nag-take ako ng dalawang eksena. Siguro adrenaline rush na mag-taping tayo, magtrabaho tayo. People are asking me kung kumusta ako. Hindi ko alam. Tinatanong nila kung kumusta ka. Naisip ko, ‘Oo nga no? Kumusta pala ako.’ Natatakot lang ako why those things are happening.”

Kim said she has no enemies and was clueless about who would want to hurt her.

“Diyos ko, ako pa ba? Wala [akong nakasamaan ng loob]. Ang masasabi ko na lang, life is really precious. Kahit wala kang sakit, wala kang kasamaan ng loob. Kung natamaan ka ng balang iyon, siguro wala ka na,”

Kim is just happy that she is still alive, and wishes that the suspects will be captured.

“I am very happy and very thankful na more than 100 messages ‘yung natanggap ko. ‘Yung cellphone ko endless ‘yung tawag. Safe naman ako. Nagpapasalamat ako dahil nag-alala sila para sa akin. Sana makita na kung sino ang bumaril sa kotse ko,”
